Boss: Wales boys back and eager to play

19/03/2024

Head Coach Dai Flanagan admits his returning Wales stars are back and desperate to feature in the BKT United Rugby Championship clash with Vodacom Bulls at Rodney Parade on Saturday (kick-off 7.35pm).

Rio Dyer, Elliot Dee, Aaron Wainwright, Taine Basham, and Cai Evans have all been in the selection mix for Wales in recent weeks.

But now come the star quintet are back at Ystrad Mynach and eager to force their way into consideration for an immmediate Dragons return.

“We are a little bit healthier with a few returnees and our internationals back in the building,” said Flanagan, who revealed Harrison Keddie is also nearing a comeback.

“The five are selectable so we will look at their loads and age profile, how many camps they have been through.

“We want to include them, that is key, but whether they are starters or bench, we will decide.

“If any miss out this week they will be available next week against Zebre.

“Our stars want to play for us, they all have an intention to play, but we don’t want to risk anyone with two quick games,” he added.

“All five are keen, though, and hopefully all five are involved.”
