Andrew strikes in narrow Scots loss

10/02/2023

Dragons RFC Oli Andrew marked his return with a try but Wales Under-20s are still looking for their first win in the 2023 U20 Six Nations after a narrow 18-17 defeat to Scotland at a blustery Scotstoun Stadium.

After getting overhauled by the Irish in the second half of their opening game in Colwyn Bay, Ryan Woodman’s side suffered four yellow cards and conceded a penalty try in Glasgow.

Flanker Morgan Morse and Dragons wing Andrew – on his return to the side - crossed for tries for second half tries for Wales but once again they came up short after taking the lea.

Australian referee Reuben Keane gave out four yellow cards to scrum half Archie Hughes, prop Dylan Kelleher-Hughes, try scorer Morse and replacement hooker Lewis Lloyd.

Wales were forced to play for a whole half with a man disadvantage but still managed a second half comeback to push their hosts all the way.

Both sides lost their opening games in this season’s tournament with Wales going down to reigning champions Ireland. Next up the Under-20s face England on home soil on Friday, February 24.
