Boss: Rapid Rosser back to his best

17/04/2024

Head Coach Dai Flanagan hailed the impact of wing wonder Jared Rosser after his first half try set up victory over Zebre Parma at Rodney Parade.

Rosser’s first half score saw him move to joint third place in the club’s record charts on 29 tries – level with Gareth Wyatt.

Only Hallam Amos, Ashton Hewitt (both 36 tries) and leader Aled Brew (43 tries) stand above the former Dragons Academy man.

And Flanagan was full of praise for the 26-year-old wide man, who has now played 86 games for the Men of Gwent.

“I thought Jared Rosser was superb,” said Flanagan. “He has been out injured, but his effort and his work rate are awesome.

“Jared has had a good season. Even the Sharks game, although he didn’t score that try, it was something you’d have in your highlight reel forever.

“What people don’t understand is how good an athlete he is,” he added. “He reminds me of Alex Cuthbert, how he can carry, and he is very quick.

“It’s on us as coaches to find a game plan that suits him. The more he touches the ball, the more Rio (Dyer) touches the ball the better we play. Our job is to get the ball in their hands.”
