Narraway calls for accuracy in France

10/01/2023

Luke Narraway has demanded Dragons RFC produce an accurate performance when they tackle Section Paloise in a big EPCR Challenge Cup clash on Friday evening (kick-off 8pm).

The Men of Gwent jet to the Southwest of France and Stade du Hameau for a crucial Round 3 encounter.

Dragons lost out in dramatic fashion when the two teams met at Rodney Parade in December – when Max Clark saw a last minute try disallowed.

Forwards Coach Narraway admitted the squad had been left disappointed after that fixture and need to make amends this week.

And ahead of the Euro clash, Narraway reiterated that qualification for the knockout stages remains within the grasp of the club.

“It’s in our hands still,” he said. “We have two opportunities over the next couple of weeks and it is down to us to produce good performances and progress in this competition.

“We were disappointed when we played Pau at home. We had more than enough opportunities to win that game.

“We had 17 unforced turnovers through poor handling or a lack of accuracy.

“After a loss we look at ourselves and how we can get better and what fixes we can make to put in a better performance. Our lack of accuracy in that game cost us dearly and we must be better.

“We could have nicked it at the end when we played them at Rodney Parade, but if we are honest, we didn’t deserve to.

“It will be good to play them again, get back out there and try and right some of those wrongs.

“If we can control the controllables then we can hopefully come back with the points we need.”
