Stat Attack: Dragons in URC rankings

Fly half Sam Davies, back row ace Ollie Griffiths and wing Jonah Holmes are among the Dragons to feature prominently in the latest United Rugby Championship (URC) statistics as we enter 2022.

Davies is currently in second spot in the lead points scorer charts with 61 in the championship this season, trailing only Jack Carty from Connacht who leads with 71.

The leading try scorer rankings see two Dragons in joint tenth place – prop sensation Mesake Doge and Jonah Holmes both have three scores this campaign. Connacht’s Mack Hansen leads the way with six tries.

Holmes also impresses in the clean breaks standings in sixth place with six – Hansen again stands at the top with 11.

The Dragons wide man is in tenth place in defender beaten (16) and leads the region for metres gained (269), just ahead of team-mate Jordan Williams (263). They are 17th and 18th respectively in the URC rankings.

In defence, Ollie Griffiths stands tall in the tackles made charts in seventh spot with 81. The current leader is Connacht’s Conor Oliver with 95. Aneurin Owen and Sam Davies also rank highly in joint 12th place with 71 tackles each.

Finally, four Dragons occupy 15th place in the turnover charts – Aneurin Owen, Jack Dixon, Taine Basham and Ollie Griffiths all have five as we enter the new year.
