Moriarty set for Benetton return

19/01/2022

Back row dynamo Ross Moriarty could be set to make a welcome return in the United Rugby Championship (URC) clash with Benetton Rugby at Rodney Parade next Friday (January 28).

The 27-year-old has not played since suffering a shoulder injury in Wales’ autumn opener against New Zealand on October 30.

Moriarty has been back training with the Dragons and boss Dean Ryan revealed last week that the combative forward was only a few weeks from a playing return.

Wales boss Wayne Pivac named Moriarty as part of his squad for the defence of the Six Nations title.

And the head coach later revealed he will release the flanker for action in the URC a week on Friday with a view to having another back row option for the championship opener against Ireland in Dublin on Saturday, February 5.

“Ross will be released from camp to play and get a game under his belt,” said Pivac.

“If he comes through that he will be available for selection for Ireland. That’s a welcome return.”

Tickets for the home clash – and Moriarty’s potential comeback – with Benetton are on sale NOW! Click HERE to buy online or call the Ticket Offie on 01633 674990.
