Centre Owen set for spell on sidelines

14/12/2022

Forwards Coach Luke Narraway has confirmed young centre Aneurin Owen is set for spell on the sidelines after injuring his knee in South Africa.

The 22-year-old from Newport suffered a blow to his left leg in the BKT United Rugby Championship defeat to the DHL Stormers in Port Elizabeth.

Owen will now miss the EPRC Challenge Cup clash with Section Paloise and upcoming festive derbies as he bids to return to full fitness.

"Nye unfortunately took a bang to his knee and it looks like he will be out for a couple of months," said Narraway.

"We are waiting for clarification on exactly how much time, but it was a bad bang, so we need to make sure we get that recovery right."

Meanwhile, Dragons are still assessing Wales international lock Ben Carter after he picked up a knee injury in the team run before the Emirates Lions encounter.

"Ben is still awaiting some results after unfortunately he landed funnily and had some discomfort,” said Narraway. "We need to make sure we get that right but hopefully it's not too serious."

Dragons are back in action on Saturday as they face Section Paloise at Rodney Parade (kick-off 5.30pm). Click HERE to buy online or call 01633 670690.
