Narraway reflects on Dragons A defeat

12/11/2021

Forwards Coach Luke Narraway urged Dragons A to learn from the experience and improve - after a disappointing defeat to Scarlets Development on home soil.

Scrum half Dan Babos grabbed a first half try double at Rodney Parade on Friday evening.

But it was Scarlets Development who ultimately pulled away as they claimed a 29-10 victory in the friendly encounter.

“There is a way we want to play, and that performance was not reflective of that,” said Narraway,

“We scored a couple of tries in the first half and I thought we had some nice forward domination up front. Our scrum was going well, our drive looked strong into a wind.

“At times we got what we were looking for, but there were also signs, that we talked about at half-time, that we needed to correct.

“We came out in the second half and didn’t see that. It didn’t resemble what we want to be, so we need to look at ourselves and ask why.”

Narraway was quick to praise the performance of several Academy players who enjoyed senior exposure in front of a healthy crowd of 1.406.

“There were a few young lads making first appearances on that stage and that was a positive,” he added.

“Ben Moa came on early and was fantastic. He showed glimpse of what we hope we can see more of in the future.

“Ryan Woodman got some minutes at the end, Joe Westwood came on, Che Hope looked lively before he hurt his shoulder.

“There are some good performances there, but as a collective we didn’t make sure that it was the experience they wanted.

“There were a lot of young lads out there and we need to provide a better platform for them so they can perform.”
