Babos eager to keep moving forward

02/06/2021

Young scrum half Dan Babos is determined to continue to kick-on next season - after making a successful return to the Dragons line-up during the Guinness PRO14 Rainbow Cup.

Newport-born Babos made his debut for the region as a 17-year-old in 2017 against the Scarlets - and even capped his first appearance at Rodney Parade with a try.

The Dragons Academy graduate went on to make 13 appearances in his debut season but has since had to wait for his next opportunity.

The 21-year-old has impressed with appearances off the bench during recent cup games and insists fans have not seen the best of him yet in a Dragons jersey.

“The last three years I’ve done my utmost to learn as much as I possibly can - hopefully I can put some of what I have learnt into practice on the field,” he said.

“Definitely fans haven’t seen the best of me yet, there is plenty of room for improvement. The more game time I get then I will grow into that shirt.

“The more confidence I play with the better I play so I think it’s just about getting that game time under my belt and getting those opportunities, which then I hopefully can take.”

Babos made his return during Round One of the inaugural Rainbow Cup in a 52-32 victory over Scarlets and has been involved in every squad to date.

And he is clearly enjoying playing with freedom under boss Dean Ryan and admits is loving being able to express himself in the environment.

“I need to realise my point of difference, that I need to play to my strengths but also make sure that I am working on my weaknesses as well,” he added.

“I feel like I have been able to get my game on the field, which is good, alongside the freedom that we are allowed to play with at the moment.

“I think that suits me personally and I love being in an environment where I am free to express myself.”
