Talented young full back Ioan Davies is determined to repay the faith shown in him by the coaching team at Dragons after securing a permanent deal with the region.
The 21-year-old spent the second half of the 2020/2021 campaign on loan in Newport and went on to make four appearances during the inaugural Rainbow Cup.
Davies impressed Director of Dragons Rugby Dean Ryan and has been rewarded with a permanent move to the Men of Gwent ahead of the 2021/2022 United Rugby Championship campaign.
The former Wales Under-20s international is determined to repay the faith shown in him and is excited at the opportunity of kicking on heading into the new season.
“I’m really happy to sign here permanently, I have been here since February and I have settled in well and I am just looking forward to kicking on into the new season really,” said the Cardiff born back.
“Really enjoyed my time here so far and I think I settled in quite quickly, the boys were really welcoming and the coaches as well.
“I then got a few opportunities at the end of the season in the Rainbow Cup so overall really happy.
“It’s really nice that Dean has confidence in me, and it lets me focus on my game and focus on that side of things,” he added.
“He has been great, has a good idea of how he wants us to play, and he manages us well. I have enjoyed working with him so far so long may that continue going forward.”
Due to the pandemic Davies has yet to play in front of supporters while at the Dragons but the youngster admits he is excited at the prospect of running out to a fully packed Rodney Parade this season.
“I haven’t played in front of a Dragons crowd yet, so I can’t wait really to get out there at Rodney Parade and play in front of them,” he said.
“I think it will make a massive difference and I know it’s not just me, but all the boys are really looking forward to it.”
