Two-Year Deal For Talbot-Davies

01/05/2020

Dragons have agreed a contract extension with Will Talbot-Davies to keep him with the region until 2022 after the Dragons Academy product impressed this season at wing and at full back.

“Will stepped up and did a good job for us this season with Jordan Williams unavailable," said Dean Ryan, Director of Dragons Rugby. “He became more settled in the side and you could see with every game he was growing in confidence.”

Talbot Davies made his Dragons debut off the bench in the Anglo-Welsh Cup clash at Leicester Tigers in November 2016 and bagged a memorable first try for the region as a replacement against Ulster in the Guinness PRO14 match in Belfast the following year.

Will, who has now made 27 Dragons appearances, scoring five tries, said, "I’ve enjoyed my time so far at the Dragons and am delighted to re-sign with the club.

“Since Dean has arrived there has been a new sense of positivity and confidence around the place which has translated into some great results this season.

“I can’t wait to get back training with the boys and am very excited to be part of the club’s progression in the future.”

Born in High Wycombe, Will moved to live in Solihull during his childhood, but was brought up a proud Welshman thanks to his father.

Recruited through the Welsh Exiles programme, Will has featured heavily in the World Rugby Sevens Series and represented Wales at the World Cup in Los Angeles in July 2018, as well as the World Rugby Under-20 Championship in Georgia in 2017.

News of Talbot-Davies’ contract renewal follows confirmation earlier this week that wing Owen Jenkins has signed a permanent deal with Dragons. The two wings are the latest players to commit their futures in addition to Ross Moriarty, Rhodri Williams, Ollie Griffiths, Jordan Williams, Aaron Jarvis, Tavis Knoyle, Taine Basham, Rio Dyer and Josh Lewis.
