Hewitt set for Rodney Parade return

13/09/2019

Wing wonder Ashton Hewitt will make his playing comeback when Dragons face Scarlets in the Worthington’s Challenge Trophy clash at Rodney Parade on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 4pm).

Speedster Hewitt – who has scored 21 tries in 72 appearances for Dragons - has been out of action since April 2018.

However, the talented 24-year-old is now ready to make his return in a highly-anticipated pre-season encounter, that forms part of a double-header of top rugby action in Newport this weekend.

Director of Dragons Rugby, Dean Ryan, has selected his very first line-up to take the field at Rodney Parade, in a game that follows the Celtic Cup fixture between Dragons XV and Scarlets A (kick-off 1pm).

Summer signing Sam Davies will make a first appearance on home soil and partner scrum half Rhodri Williams, who will captain the team.

Samoa international lock Brandon Nansen, who has been out of action since January when he picked up a hamstring injury against Scarlets, also makes his long-awaited playing comeback.

Prop Leon Brown is set to make a first appearance of the season from the bench, after returning from his summer exploits in the Wales camp ahead of the Rugby World Cup.

Scrum half Luke Baldwin could also make his home debut for the region after being named among the replacements.

Ticket prices for the Double Header at Rodney Parade are just £10 for Adults and £5 for Juniors. Buy in advance to save on match day ticket prices, with adult ticket prices on the day £12.
