The Dragons Community team and Rodney the Dragon hit the regional road last week for a series of mascot presentations, in conjunction with community partner Coleg Gwent.
During the 2018/19 season the mascot package at Dragons was kindly supported by Coleg Gwent - one of Wales’ top performing colleges - to provide memorable opportunities for youngsters.
All the mascots got to join the captain to lead the Dragons into battle on the big day at Rodney Parade.
And last week our community team travelled to schools across the region to present signed pictures as special mementos to our fantastic mascots.
Mason Lewis (Glan Usk Primary School), Lucas Hoare (Monnow Primary School), Gethin Edwards, Morgan Suller (both Mount Pleasant Primary School) and Oscar Wadley (Overmonnow Primary School) all had visits and presentations in school assembly.
Mike Sage, Community Manager at Dragons Community, said: “It’s been fantastic to travel around the region to present the mascots with signed pictures to remember their day with us.
“Our thanks go out to community partner Coleg Gwent for the fantastic support they have given over the last season and the role they have played in making special memories for young rugby fans across Gwent.”
A spokesperson for Coleg Gwent said: “It’s a pleasure to be a Dragons Community partner and to support the mascot package.
“For a child to run out on to the pitch with the players is a once in a lifetime experience and we’re delighted to be able to help make that happen.”
Coleg Gwent is home to over 18,000 students and five campuses in Newport, Crosskeys, Usk, Pontypool and Blaenau Gwent. The College boasts a 98% A level pass rate and ranks joint 1st for all main and vocational qualifications and above Wales and national pass rates for three years running.
