Warren - Away Win Would Be Massive

Centre Adam Warren admits the focus is now on securing an elusive away win in the Guinness PRO14 as fired-up Dragons tackle Scarlets at Parc y Scarlets on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 5.15pm).

Dragons secured a first Welsh league derby win in four years as they defeated Ospreys at Rodney Parade in the final game of 2018.

The team now make the journey west and Warren admits confidence would be sky high if they could repeat the heroics of last time out and claim an away result.

“The next step is that away win,” said Warren. “We all love playing at Rodney Parade, the fans are great at getting behind us. But if we can go down to the Scarlets, who not long ago were champions, and get that away win then our confidence will be through the roof.

“We sometimes get looked at as the weaker region. We don’t feel that as a group and we have got good players.

“It will be nice to prove to everyone out there that we are a competitive side. It is a tough ask, Scarlets have had great form over the last two years. But a win there shows what we are capable of.

“We’ve been a quite close to a big result on a few occasions this season and have got the wrong end of results,” he added.

“We hadn’t won a derby for a while so it was such a good feeling on the field. We played for each other and spoke a lot about being tighter as a group.

“We spoke about discipline, energy and attitude and going after them. They came fully loaded so it was a great result for us.”

Warren will need little introduction at Parc y Scarlets after playing for four seasons before moving to Dragons in June 2015.

And the 27-year-old, born in Burry Port, has fond memories of his time in Llanelli.

“I love playing against the Scarlets,” smiled Warren. “I’m a local boy and grew up playing with a lot of their players so there is some banter on the field.

“My family stick with supporting me – but maybe a lot of my mates won’t! I’m sure they will get into me.

“I enjoyed my time down there. I was competing with international centres before I tried the move to Dragons and I have loved it up here too.

“It’s great to play against the likes of Jonathan Davies, who is a British Lion and a class act. It will be great to try and compete with him.

“I got a lot of game down there and showed what I could do before I came up here. If we can get another result down there now it will be great for us.”

Dragons return to Rodney Parade on Friday, January 11 when we face Timisoara Saracens in the European Challenge Cup. Visit the Ticket Office to buy your ticket or click HERE to buy online.
