Nansen & Botica support TAG Festival

15/02/2019

Over 100 primary school children today (Friday) took part in a fun tag rugby event for the chance to play at the home of the Dragons next month!

Ten teams from schools across the region played in the Meilin Homes TAG festival at Newport International Sports Village.

Glasllwch Primary School, Langstone Primary School, Dewstow Primary School and High Cross Primary School battled it out in Group A while Eveswell Primary School, St Andrews Primary School, St Michaels RC Primary School and St Marys Primary Shool were in Group B.

Some great rugby was on show at Spytty Park and the eventual Melin Homes TAG winners were Eveswell Primary School and High Cross Primary School.

These two schools will now play at half-time at the upcoming Guinness PRO14 fixture with Ulster at Rodney Parade in March in the Phil James Memorial Challenge Cup, supported by Tata Steel.

Lock Brandon Nansen and fly half Jacob Botica were special guests at the event to cheer on the young rugby players and award medals at the end of the tournament.

Our thanks go to Melin Homes for their fantastic support of the competition and also USW who provide students to support events.
