Centre Connor Edwards will captain Dragons A as they face Cardiff Blues A in the opening game of the Celtic Cup at Rodney Parade on Friday evening (kick-off 7.15pm).

Featuring development sides from the Welsh Regions and Irish Provinces, the Celtic Cup has been introduced to prepare players, coaches, referees and other staff for professional rugby.

The first Dragons team of the season features fit-again wing Jared Rosser while Dan Babos and Jacob Botica will combine at half back.

Prop Josh Reynolds comes into the front row in the only change to the pack that secured a win over Ospreys in a friendly fixture last weekend.

The Dragons coaching team is headed up by Academy Manager James Chapron, with support from Ian Evans (Forwards), Alan Kingsley (Backs), Jon Westwood as Director of Rugby and a full backroom team.

Supporters are advised that only the Bisley Stand will be open on match night and access will be through Gates 4 and 6. The game will be unreserved seating for all.

Season Ticket holders gain FREE entry – but must present their card – while Under-16s can also gain entry for FREE once they have a match ticket. Adult entry is £5.

Dragons A (v Cardiff Blues A): Will Talbot-Davies, Joe Goodchild, Deon Smith, Connor Edwards (c), Jared Rosser, Jacob Botica, Dan Babos; Josh Reynolds, Rhys Lawrence, Chris Coleman, Joe Davies, Max Williams, Lennon Greggains, James Benjamin, Ben Fry.

Replacements: Zac Hewlett, Scott Evans, Luke Yendle, Ed Scragg, Taine Basham, Dafydd Buckland, Tiaan Loots, Carwyn Penny.
