Rosser ready for big Leinster clash

Wing Jared Rosser is hoping to continue his red-hot try scoring form when Dragons tackle champions Leinster – and avoid any criticism from younger brother and fellow Dragons speedster Ewan!

Ben Mottram | 29/11/2018

Rosser, 20, grabbed a dream double against Edinburgh last weekend to fire Bernard Jackman’s men to a third win of the Guinness PRO14 season.

He will now hope to line up against league and European champions Leinster at Rodney Parade on Saturday evening (kick-off 5.15pm).

And he revealed that it is not just the coaches that are ready to point out any areas that he needs to improve –so his younger brother Ewan, who is making an impression in the region's Academy set-up!

“My brother is coming through and is a winger with the Dragons Under-18s," said Jared. "He is picking up things in my game and I am picking up things in his game, it's good.

"He is quite a critic – he has an answer for everything! If any of the coaches miss anything, which I very much doubt they will, then he will pick it up.

"If he doesn't then my dad, who was a winger with Pontypool and Abertillery, will!”

Rosser made his debut against Leinster back in September 2017 and admits his game has improved since that big date.

However, he is always striving to push his game on in the Dragons environment.

“My debut was overwhelming, you are just happy to be on the pitch, but now I go into games trying to leave a mark and make an impact,” said Rosser, who boosts an impressive 11 tries in 30 senior outings.

“I’m always striving to improve. Every game is a test and your skills are under scrutiny. Alan (Kingsley) and Barry (Maddocks) are great at working on it and making sure you are on top of it.

“The past two or three weeks we have changed our defensive work so the boys are excited about trying it out against one of the best sides in Europe,” he added.

“We can take a lot of confidence from the last game, but we know we need to step it up.”
