The council first welcomed the Dragons back in 2014 when they moved into the county’s Centre for Sporting Excellence in Ystrad Mynach which they use as a regional base for training and development matches.

Fans will be able to purchase tickets from four of the main leisure facilities across the county which include, Caerphilly, Risca and Newbridge Leisure Centre’s as well as the Centre for Sporting Excellence.

Tickets will be on sale from Thursday 8th March for the final home game of the season at Rodney Parade on Friday 23 March against Toyota Cheetahs (kick off 7.35pm).

Cabinet Member for Community and Leisure Services Cllr. Nigel George said, “I am pleased that the partnership we have with the Dragons continues to grow and develop. Selling tickets at four local sites will allow fans the opportunity to purchase tickets at their own convenience.”

“We are delighted to commence ticket sales from Caerphilly Borough County Council nominated locations,” said Mark Jones, Head of Operations.

“Our training base in the Caerphilly borough, Ystrad Mynach has become a home from home for the players and rugby management team and we’ve forged a strong partnership with the Leisure Trust.

“By making tickets available in local communities we are able to increase our visibility, reach and access across the region and this new announcement builds upon a similar agreement in Torfaen, where tickets are available to rugby supporters at Cwmbran Stadium and Pontypool Active Living Centre, adjacent to the rugby club. We’d like to thank both leisure trusts for their support and in recognition of the role the Dragons play locally in inspiring children to be active and develop a love for the game.”

He continued; “Giving supporters the chance to purchase tickets on their doorstep right across the region will make it easier for regular and first time Dragons attendees secure their place at the final home game in Newport this season as we host Toyota Cheetahs as well as into the 2018/19 season.”
