All eyes on Judgement Day VI

All eyes this week are now on the finale of the domestic season as Judgement Day VI at the Principality Stadium approaches.

Despite defeat in their last two games there’s silverware still on the line for the Scarlets, but Dragons will head to Principality Stadium ready to give last year’s Pro12 champions a stern test.

If the Scarlets can finish with a flourish they will claim a home drawn PRO14 'quarter-final' play-off by finishing second in Conference B. They could even go top and fly straight into the 'semi-finals', if Leinster finish with no further points on the board after their own league stage concludes, played simultaneously at the Sportsground in Connacht.

“We are going to have a real good go at the Scarlets at the Principality Stadium on Judgement Day,” said Bernard Jackman. It will be another great opportunity for our youngsters playing in front of a huge crowd and a great venue.

Jackman watched this weekend’s opposition take on Leinster at the Aviva Stadium last Saturday whilst working for RTE Sport and he was impressed by the performance of his former team in dismantling the Scarlets and installed them as favourites to be european champions.

"Leinster never let Scarlets into the game, they were relentless from the start," Jackman told RTÉ Sport.

"Leo Cullen was able to get his bench on, their game management was very good, they put Scarlets under pressure, played  a lot of territory and they looked like an international side."

"Leinster are very comfortable and confident in how they want to play their game," Jackman added.

"They can play the power game they can go out wide, they can kick in behind, they can go after the set piece, they don’t have any obvious weakness and Scarlets certainly couldn’t identify any weakness out there."

One Welsh team may have fallen in Europe at the weekend, but Cardiff Blues will now be thinking about Bilbao but one good win over the Ospreys will see them join the Scarlets in the PRO14 play-offs, if Southern Kings can beat Toyota Cheetahs and prevent them from picking up a losing bonus point earlier in the day (KO 2.00pm).

Ospreys and Dragons are out of the PRO14 play offs running with the Liberty Stadium outfit facing a European play-off for passage to EPCR Champions Cup action next season, so it's just bragging rights and pride at stake for each of them.

Split into two conferences for the first part of the season the PRO14 breaks out into a play-off structure after JDVI, with the top three teams in each Conference entering the knock-out stages of the competition.

A Principality Stadium crowd in excess of 50,000 is expected for Judgement Day VI.
