Following hot on the heels of the Rugby World Cup will be Wales’ second top-tier international sporting event in quick succession. The final round of the World Rally Championship – Wales Rally GB – is set to storm into North Wales between 12-15 November.
To celebrate both competitions and the excitement around Wales’ success and profile in hosting two major sporting events, Wales Rally GB with partners Pro Rugby Wales have released four social media viral videos.
The two sports events will bring an estimated £327m boost to Wales’ economy and as Wales prepare for their hugely anticipated Rugby World Cup fixture against England at Twickenham this weekend, Wales Rally GB’s top Welsh talent have sent messages of good luck to Warren Gatland and his Wales team.
The Welsh rugby squad completed their final pre-World Cup preparations in Conwy County during an open training session at Eirias Park in August. Some 4,000 fans turned out to cheer on their heroes and among those fans were Welsh rally stars Elfyn Evans, Osian Pryce and Tom Cave, who made their way to Colwyn Bay to see off the Wales squad and wish them the very best of luck for the tournament.
After taking a watching brief for the open training session, the rally trio couldn’t help but get involved with Wales coaches putting them through the paces – testing their kicking, passing and scrumming with varying degrees of competency, much to the amusement of the thousands of seasoned rugby fans in the crowd.
Sadly the Welsh rugby players were not able to reciprocate by taking a spin in any of the world-class Rally cars on show but the world-class sporting heroes took time to wish each other the best in the two big sporting events of autumn in Wales.
