Dragons U18s miss out on win against Scarlets U18s

Newport Gwent Dragons U18s made the trip west to take on the unbeaten Scarlets U18s at Parc Y Scarlets on Wednesday 19th November.

The Dragons U18s side, who were captained by Lewis Johnson, began the game well as fly-half Arwel Robson opened the scoring with a penalty. In quick succession the Scarlets U18s gave away another penalty within kicking distance and Robson extended the score to 6-0.

The home side however added their own points to the board with a try from Shaun Edwards – the try was not converted and half time was called with the Dragons U18s leading 6-5.

The West Walians came out into the second half fighting as wing Kieran Jones scored two tries in quick succession pushing the Scarlets U18s into the lead after 45mins.

Finally in the 65^th minute Lloyd Lewis went over the white wash for the Dragons U18s and Robson added the extras bringing them back into the game. Unfortunately this wasn’t enough to take the win for the youngsters as Scarlets U18s captain Josh Macloud crossed the try line with Billy McBryde added the extras, ending the game on a 22-11 win for the Scarlets.
