As the men of Gwent take a break from the Pro12 they look forward to facing Mogliano Rugby at Rodney Parade KO 7.15pm whom they have played and beaten twice both home and away.
The Amlin pool looks tricky for the region as they will also face Bath Rugby, next week at the Rec and then the Bordeux-Begels in December.
Looking towards the first game against Mogliano Director of Rugby Lyn Jones said “We don’t know what they (Mogliano) are going to come with but we have got to be looking pretty confident and back ourselves in that game.
“The big test is against Bath... It’s a big challenge for our players going down to the Rec and coming away with a victory.”
Injury update with Head physiotherapist Ben Searle, “Three of our centres are injured, firstly Pat Leach who has returned to non contact training but he remains on the injury list with his elbow. Secondly Jack Dixon who suffered a foot injury on the weekend during the Zebre game; it’s still early days at the moment so we are not sure when he will return yet and thirdly Ashley Smith who is still suffering with his hamstring.
“Skipper Andrew Coombs suffered an ankle injury on the weekend which again is early days so we are not sure when he will return.
“Our long term injuries are still both Darren Waters and Rhys Thomas who are both progressing well.”
