Dragons sign Thomas Rhys Thomas from London Wasps

The Dragons will welcome Rhys Thomas to Rodney Parade next season; the 30 year old international hooker will head home to Wales after a season with the Wasps.

Thomas made his debut for Wales against USA eagles on 4 June 2005 and has achieved 27 caps.

Born in Abercynon, Thomas started playing rugby at Abercynon RFC, aged 8 and began his professional career at Cardiff RFC in 2003. Thomas made a try-scoring debut for the Cardiff Blues against Celtic Warriors on 27 December 2003.

Speaking of the signing Rob Beale, Director of Rugby said, “We are delighted to have such an experienced player join our squad next season. I’m sure Rhys will have a big impact on and off the field during his time here at the Dragons.”

Head Coach Darren Edwards Comments, “Rhys will be a great addition to our pack of forwards, he brings with him a wealth of experience. I am confident he will make a difference on the field and also be a great mentor for our other hookers and young players.”
