COOMBS MAKES RETURN TO CONNACHT

Andrew Coombs returns to Connacht (Friday, 23 September, 19:30) where he made his regional debut two years ago

Andrew Coombs returns to Connacht (Friday, 23 September, 19:30) where he made his regional debut two years ago. This will be the Dragons' third trip away to Ireland in four games, where they've already played League Champions Munster, and Heineken Champions Leinster.

"My debut was against Connacht so it's appropriate that I'm going back. I missed out on selection last time but it was where I first got the chance to impress the Dragons coaches so I'm really keen to impress again."

"Connacht is a difficult place to go," said Back Row Coombs, "They've a lot of big men who are very difficult to break down and they obviously enjoy playing at home. The conditions are going to play a massive part: it's windy and it's probably going to be quite wet on Friday so it's going to be difficult playing conditions."

Despite this Coombs is looking forward to Connacht. Coming off their first win of the season against Aironi, the Dragons are confident in their plans and their players.

"We just need to keep hold of the ball for long periods of time, build phases and stress them a bit more. Connacht thrive on knowing teams don't like to play them at home but we have a lot of great leaders in the Dragons at the moment and I'm learning at lot from those guys."

The Dragons still lack key players with the World Cup and injuries taking a toll on the team roster. However, the Men of Gwent still have players to watch. Andrew Coombs is one of them.

"I'm just enjoying playing at the moment, getting to string a bit of game time together and a chance to get some continuity into my game."
