WORLD CUP FEVER AT RODNEY PARADE

Pillgwenlly Primary School enjoy a New Zealand treat at Rodney Parade

Community Depatment | 21/10/2011

Pillgwenlly School make an impression!

Our Second Half visitors to Rodney Parade were Pillgwenlly Primary school who have been working on a rugby project during the world cup. Part of this was the class learning to perform the ‘Haka’ and on their arrival at Rodney Parade they were keen to show our community department their new skills.

Phil James our education officer was so impressed that he went to find our Kiwi contingent and asked them if they would come and see the pupils perform. As usual both Ben Castle and Tom Willis were more than willing to give their time to help our activities and they were delighted by the pupil’s efforts.

However, Tom said they needed to do it much louder and then he and Ben led the kids in performing the Maori challenge.

Class teacher Mr Gwynne was absolutely delighted with the result,

“We’ve had great fun through our rugby project, but that tops the lot. Seeing Tom and Ben give it their all made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up” he said. “This is something the children will remember for a long time”.

Once again a wonderful day was had by all.
