SUNDAY SHOWDOWN FOR DRAGONS

The Dragons take on the Scarlets on Sunday (Rodney Parade, 1pm) looking to secure their first ever LV= Cup semi final spot.

The Dragons take on the Scarlets on Sunday (Rodney Parade, 1pm) looking to secure their first ever LV= Cup semi final spot.

The Men of Gwent currently top their pool with 8 match points whilst pool rivals Saracens are just behind on 7points. Both teams are at home this weekend with the East-West Welsh derby being followed by the Vicarage Road clash at 3pm.

The Dragons just need to beat the Scarlets to secure qualification, as if they finish on equal match points with Sarries, the team with the most wins takes the pool. The Dragons have already won 2 matches whilst Saracens have won just 1.

If both teams lose, Dragons would still finish above the London outfit, but then London Irish could come into play who are currently on 5 match points. A win for the Irish and a loss for the other two would leave them pool winners. London Irish play Gloucester away on Saturday at 3pm.

“We really need every supporter who can come to get down to this game,” said Dragons wing Aled Brew.

“Teams don’t always like coming here – it’s a tough ground to come to, I remember playing here with the Ospreys and a packed Rodney Parade with the Dragons firmly behind the home team can make it a really intimidating atmosphere.

“The Scarlets have a good record at Rodney Parade and have been a bogey team for us in the past so a win on Sunday is really important to us.”

The match is free for under 16s (They must be accompanied by a responsible adult) and adult tickets are available on the New North Terrace from just £8 for adults.
