DRAGONS MARCH INTO GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS

The Men of Gwent marched straight into the Guinness Book of World Records on the weekend after breaking the record for the most consecutive five metre rugby ball passes.

The Men of Gwent marched straight into the Guinness Book of World Records on the weekend after breaking the record for the most consecutive five metre rugby ball passes.

Newport Gwent Dragons players were joined by back-room staff and supporters in the event to raise money for BBC Children in Need and made a record breaking 279 consecutive rugby ball passes.

The Dragons Community Manager, Mike Sage, coordinated the event and said:  “Having heard of the difficulty in previous failed attempts at other regions within Welsh rugby we were determined to make this attempt a success.

“We were delighted with the support shown by our regional supporters and that all the hard work and effort paid off with us breaking the record at Rodney Parade.

“It is the start of a new partnership with Children in Need which we are looking to build on and who knows we may build on the record in the near future.”

The Dragons very own Catering Manager, Tina French, made the record breaking 263rd pass and said:  “It was great to break the record and I am just glad I didn’t mess it up!  I had no idea that I would be making the pass, which broke the previous record, when I lined up so it was a lot of pressure!”

A DVD of the record breaking feat, priced at just £4.99, is available to purchase upon request.  To secure your copy of the Guinness World Record email mike.sage@rodneyparadeltd.com.
