ALL EYES ON YOUNG STARS FOR WORCESTER CLASH

Wales Under 20 Manager Phil Davies and his management staff will be looking for star performances as the Dragons take on Worcester in a development match at Cross Keys tomorrow (Wednesday, 7:30pm)

Wales Under 20 Manager Phil Davies and his management staff will be looking for star performances as the Dragons take on Worcester in a development match at Cross Keys tomorrow (Wednesday, 7:30pm)

The game will see some of the future stars of regional rugby take to the field and with ten players in the squad who are eligible for Wales Under 20s, there is everything to play for.

In addition to the Under 20 players, there are several players who have been shining in the Premiership this season and Dragons coaches Paul Turner and Darren Edwards will also be in attendance to look at potential regional players.

“We can see by the successful transition of Toby Faletau into the Dragons senior side and of Dan Lydiate into the Welsh National side that regional development rugby is crucial to the future of rugby in Wales,” said Academy Manager Will Thomas.

“We would also like to take the opportunity to thank everyone at Cross Keys RFC for accommodating us, not only for the game tomorrow but also for our training sessions in the run-up to this match. We’d urge as many fans as possible to get up to the game which will be showcasing some of the most promising young talent in Wales.

“With the new WRU central analysis system, combined with our new Academy Analyst, we have been compiling comparative player data across our five Premiership teams and this gives the likes of Tom Cooper, Jevon Groves and James Murphy who have shown up well in the analysis, the opportunity to test themselves against Guinness Premiership opposition.”
