Jones Targets Toulouse

Newport Gwent Dragons lock Adam Jones has set his sights on returning to action for the Heineken Cup game against Toulouse at Rodney Parade on Saturday 13 December, kick-off 2.30pm.

Newport Gwent Dragons lock Adam Jones has set his sights on returning to action for the Heineken Cup game against Toulouse at Rodney Parade on Saturday 13 December, kick-off 2.30pm.

The twenty eight year old from Swansea, who joined the Dragons from the Scarlets at the beginning of last season, was dealt a huge blow after the EDF Energy fixture against Gloucester as he picked up an injury to both his shoulder and his knee which ruled him out of the squad for six weeks.

Adam is approaching the end of an intense physiotherapy programme and is confident that he will be fit for selection as the Dragons welcome last year’s Heineken Cup finalists to Rodney Parade. He said:

“Since picking up the injuries in the EDF, I’ve remained confident that I can return for the Heineken Cup game against Toulouse and have worked really hard to stay ahead of schedule in rehab. In the past few weeks I’ve needed two operations to clear out the problems with both my shoulder and my knee and have concentrated on my recovery within a realistic timeframe.”

He added: “I have looked on the game against Toulouse, one of the best team in Europe, with huge excitement as every player and team will measure themselves against the best and I can’t think of a better competition than the Heineken Cup.

“The Dragons face an incredible challenge against Toulouse away from home this weekend yet I know that the team will be going out there with the attitude to win as we feel confident this year that we have the ability to beat any opposition.

“The following week we are presented with the opportunity to face Toulouse on our home turf at Rodney Parade and this is a must win situation in order to progress through to the knock-out stages of the tournament.

“Personally I can’t wait to get back out there playing again and improve on the form that I enjoyed with the team before injury, as collectively and personally we all have aspirations to go on an achieve higher honours.”
