Over 3,000 people crowded into Rodney Parade yesterday (8th August) for the Family Fun Day.

Despite the wet weather a large crowd gathered and enjoyed a great day out. There was a wide range of activities and games in the Family Village but the highlight of the day was the opportunity to meet the Newport Gwent Dragons and Newport rugby players who were only too happy to sign autographs, pose for photographs and take a full part in the activities and coaching sessions on the field.

The club shop which has been re-furbished was officially opened by Chief Executive Andy Marinos and supporters had the opportunity to purchase replica jerseys, leisure wear and other merchandise for both the Newport Gwent Dragons and Newport RFC. V

isitors also had the opportunity to have their face painted, battle on the gladiator duel, enjoy live music, meet the tortoises, be put through their paces with the army, and enjoy the stilts walkers, balloon modelling and the clown show. “It was a really good turnout despite the poor weather and the support we had was fantastic,” commented Chief Executive Andy Marinos. “The family feel to the day was quite excellent and must have been a real eye opener for those who visited Rodney Parade for the first time and was a great start to the new season.”
