Two Undefeated Amateur Teams Go Head-to-Head

The unbeaten Dragons team face the unbeaten Blues in the WRU Amateur tournament tonight at Beddau (kick-off 7.15pm).

The Dragons travel with three wins under their belt, the latest in North Wales, while the Blues are two from two in the new Under 25 tournament.

“We are on a bit of a roll at the moment and the players have really taken to the task exceptionally well. They have been very professional in their approach and attitude,” said Dragons coach Gerry Roberts.“We’ve got players from 17 clubs within the region in our squad and we had 12 teams represented in the team that won in north Wales. They have blended well and there is a huge amount of talent.“We know the Blues are unbeaten as well, so this is going to be a bit of a showdown for us. The players are looking to make it four out of four and stay in the hunt for the title.”

As well as the title, the players from all the regions have got one eye firmly fixed on winning a Welsh cap in the new Amateur XV that the Welsh Rugby Union will be launching later in the year.

“All the players are excited by the prospect of playing for Wales. It is one of those added little incentives for them,” added Roberts.
